Tuesday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers remain idle, practicing up for Thuirsday and Friday’s matches against the Winnipeg Jets at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland.

A shout-out to new acquisition Mike Hoffman, who is currently on a seven-game point streak and four-game goal streak. Hoffman leads the Cats with five goals and is the only skater on the team with two power-play markers.

Let’s take a look at how some of Florida’s hottest prospects are doing.

Owen Tippett scored three goals and added two assists in two OHL games this weekend. Tippett enters the week with 14 points (8G/6A) in 8 games for the Mississauga Steelheads.

Serron Noel leads the Oshawa Generals (OHL) with 11 goals and has posted 15 points in 14 games so far this season. This summer’s second-rounder has lit the lamp in three of his last four games.

Linus Nassen is the highest-scoring defenseman on the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) roster with 12 points (2G/10A) in 11 games played. Nassen dished out three helpers in an 8-5 win over Regina on October 26.

NCAA goaltender Ryan Bednard earned a win and a tie for Bowling Green this weekend. Bednard is currently sporting a 5-0-1 record with a 1.48 GAA and .940 save percentage.

Aleksi Heponiemi is the rookie scoring leader in Liiga (Finland) with 15 points (4G/11A) in 16 games. Heponiemi was named to Finland’s roster for the U20 Four Nations Tournament taking place from November 9-11 in the Czech Republic.
