Alex Ovechkin smacked his own rebound off the post out of midair and by Matt Murray with 1:07 remaining in regulation to lift the visiting Washington Capitals to a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Matt Niskanen’s goal early in the third period tied the game at three. The Capitals lead the series two games to one.

The Winnipeg Jets roared back from a three-goal deficit after one period to blast the Nashville Predators 7-4 at Bell MTS Place. Dustin Byfuglien (2G/1A), Blake Wheeler (2G/1A), and Paul Stastny (1G/2A) each put up three points for the Jets, who took a two games to one lead in the series.
