The expansion Vegas Golden Knights became the first team to advance to the second round of the playoffs with a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Brayden McNabb scored the only goal. from Reilly Smith and William Karlsson, 4:04 into the second period and Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves to post his second shutout of the series, which Vegas swept in four straight games. Fleury finished the series with a 0.65 GAA and .977 save percentage.

Lars Eller’s greasy rebound goal nine minutes in to the second overtime gave the Washington Capitals a much-needed 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus still leads the series two games to one. The road team has each game in overtime.

Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves and Mark Scheifele scored both goals, including an empty-netter, as the visiting Winnipeg Jets blanked the Minnesota Wild 2-0. With a three game to one lead, the Jets are on the verge of winning the first playoff series in franchise history.
