The Rampage won their first game of the season on Sunday, defeating the Houston Aeros 3-2. The Aeros jumped on the board first with a goal from Charlie Coyle on the man-advantage but San Antonio answered back with Jean-Francois Jacques' deflected goal, also on the powerplay. Defensemen Colby Robak and Alex Petrovic received assists. The Rampage out-shot Houston 15-8 in the period.
Four minutes into the second frame, the Rampage took the lead with a Greg Rallo goal, the goal was unassisted and created by mishandling of the puck from Aeros goaltender Matt Hackett. Houston forward Jason Zucker tied the game late in the second on the powerplay, scoring off his own rebound.
In the third period, the Rampage took the lead off a power shot from Robak. Former Aero Casey Wellman and Jon Rheault were credited with the assists. Jacob Markstrom (pictured above with Florida) was in net for San Antonio, stopping 30 shots (.938) and was named the game's second star behind Robak's top-billing.
The Rampage travel to Oklahoma City on Friday in a rematch of the 2012 Western Conference Semi-Finalists; game gets underway at 8:00 PM EST.
