Florida Panthers re-sign RFA Colby Robak; Nick Bjugstad to Attend US Olympic Camp

According to the club’s official twitter account, the Florida Panthers have re-signed RFA defenseman Colby Robak to a two-year deal. Robak appeared in 16 games with the Cats last season, notching one assist (his first NHL point) and accumulating 17 PIM. The 23-year-old also suited up in 63 games for the San Antonio Rampage and totaled 23 points (5G/18A) and 50 PIM. Robak was chosen by the Panthers 46th overall in the 2008 Entry Draft.

In other Cats-related news, USA Hockey announced the roster for it’s U.S. Olympic orientation camp which will take place on August 26th and 27th in Arlington, Virginia. Florida rookie Nick Bjugstad was chosen as one of the forty-eight attendees. Bjugstad represented the U.S. at the 2013 IIHF World Championship and saw fourth line duty. Bjugstad would have to be considered an extreme long shot to make the squad but the recognition sure is nice and shows he has a bright future at both the NHL and international level.
