Stanley Cup-winning goaltender Jordan Binnington and the St. Louis Blues have avoided arbitration. Binnington’s new two-year deal will pay him $4.4 million per season.
Binnington came up from the AHL to produce a dominant rookie campaign that saw him go 24-5-1 and post a .927 save percentage, 1.89 GAA and five shutouts. His stellar play helped the Blues go from the league’s basement to the playoffs.
One of his 24 wins was a 3-2 decision over the Florida Panthers in Sunrise on February 5. He stopped 22 of 24 shots in that game.
In 26 postseason appearances, he posted a .914 save percentage, a 2.46 GAA and one shutout to help lead St. Louis to the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
The only other signing on slow NHL Saturday was the Washington Capitals inking defenseman Colby Williams to a one-year, two-way contract. Williams has spent the last three seasons with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. (Russian Machine Never Breaks)
