Florida Panthers Thursday Caterwaul

The Walt Disney Company and TNT announced their broadcast schedules and the Florida Panthers will be in the national spotlight a total of 12 times, including a prime matchup with the New York Rangers on ABC at Madison Square Garden on March 23, 2024.

The NHL 2023-24 season begins in North America on Tuesday, October 10, with an opening night tripleheader Face-Off on ESPN and ESPN+.

The Tampa Bay Lightning begin the new season by hosting the new-look Nashville Predators at 5:30 p.m. ET.

The highly-anticipated debut of 2023 number-one draft pick Connor Bedard follows as the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Pittsburgh Penguins, who also added the defending Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson, in primetime at 8 p.m. ET.

The 10:30 p.m. ET nightcap will see the Seattle Kraken face off against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights in Sin City. Prior to the game, the Golden Knights will see their first championship banner raised at T-Mobile Arena during the Stanley Cup banner ceremony.

TNT’s coverage will start the next night (October 11)and features a pair of exciting games.

Bedard and the Blackhawks travel to do battle with David Pastrňák, Brad Marchand and the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Boston Bruin sat 7:30 p.m. ET

Later at 9:30 p.m. ET, TNT will feature a star-studded matchup between Anže Kopitar, Kevin Fiala and the Los Angeles Kings hosting Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche.

Euro Panthers

Prospect defenseman Ludvig Jansson played on the second pairing in Luleå HF’s 5-4 shootout loss to Liiga side Oulun Kärpät. Jansson did not figure in the scoring.

The Champions Hockey League begins play today and three Panthers prospects/reserves could see action. Jakub Kos and Ilves will take on HC Dynamo Pardubice; Aleksi Heponiemi and EHC Biel-Bienne will face off against HC Košice; and Kasper Puutio and Pelicans will meet Växjö Lakers.

NHL News

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forwards Brendan Perlini and Cory Conacher to professional try-out contracts. Perlini and Conacher bring the Hurricanes PTO count to four, joining foward Nick Shore and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced a multiyear contract extension for head coach Sheldon Keefe on Wednesday. Keefe, whose previous deal was set to expire at the end of this coming season, has a 166-71-30 record with Toronto and ranks sixth overall in franchise wins.
