Panthers not in on Will Butcher

According to the Denver Post’s Mike Chambers, Hobey Baker Award winner Will Butcher, a standout defenceman at the University of Denver, has rejected an entry-level contract from the Colorado Avalanche and is now an unrestricted freee agent. Butcher will visit with the New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres and expansion Vegas Golden Knights.

After clearing waivers, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Alexey Marchenko is headed back to the Russia, but his agent said he hopes to return to the NHL in the future. Marchenko will reportedly sign a three-year deal with CSKA Moscow of the KHL.

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney emailed The Boston Globe, stating that he has no plans to trade restricted free agent David Pastrnak.
