Friday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Offseason Open Forum

The Vegas Golden Knights, who won the final four games of the series, will play the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Semifinals after winning Game 6 over the Colorado Avalanche by a 6-3 count at T-Mobile Arena. It is the third time in its four seasons Vegas has advanced to the third round of the playoffs.

Vegas got goals from six different players and Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves for his 89th playoff win, moving him past Billy Smith and Ed Belfour for fourth in NHL history.

Nathan MacKinnon had two assists for the Avalanche, who won the Presidents’ Trophy with the best record in the NHL. Philipp Grubauer surrendered five goals on 22 shots.

Kelly Cup playoffs

The Florida Panthers ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits skated to a 3-1 victory over the Indy Fuel on Thursday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Greenville leads the best-of-five series 2-0 and will look to sweep the Fuel tonight at 7:05 p.m.

Liam Pecararo, Joey Haddad, and Frank DiChiara scored the Greenville goals. Ryan Bednard stopped 26 of 27 shots to pick up his second win of the postseason. Defenseman Alec Rqauhauser was the other Panthers prospect to see action in the game. He finished the game with no shots, an even rating and 2 PIM.

2021 NHL DRAFT ORDER

The order for the 2021 NHL Entry Draft is set through the first 27 picks. Florida will have the 23rd pick of the opening round. There will only be 31 picks in the first round as the Arizona Coyotes have forfeited its selection.

Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche are the three finalists for the 2020-21 Hart Memorial Trophy. McDavid should win this in a landslide.
