Hockey Hall of Fame adds Iginla, Hossa, Lowe, St-Pierre, Wilson and Holland

Jarome Iginla, Marian Hossa, Kevin Lowe, Kim St-Pierre and Doug Wilson were the five players comprising the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2020 . Longtime NHL executive Ken Holland will be inducted in the builder category.

Iginla, who as we saw in yesterday’s 1995 draft re-imagining could’ve been a member of the Florida Panthers, got into the Hall in his first year of eligibility. He spent fifteen of his twenty seasons with the Calgary Flames, leading the club in scoring in 11 of them while also playing a heavy, physical game. Iginla also represented Canada on the international stage, winning gold at the 2002 and 2010 Olympic Games. He finished his career with 625 goals and 1300 points.

The high-scoring Hossa was originally a member of the Ottawa Senators and also played for the Atlanta Thrashers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, where he won Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Hossa produced 525 and 1134 points in 1309 career games.

Goaltender St-Pierre is best known as the last line of defense for Team Canada. She led her country to Olympic Gold three times while posting some rather eye-popping numbers, including a 1.17 GAA and .939 save percentage.

Lowe, Edmonton’s first-round draft choice in 1979, was a consummate defensive-defenseman who played 1,254 games in the NHL and won five Stanley Cups with the Oilers and then added a sixth with the New York Rangers in 1994.

Wilson played 14 seasons with the Blackhawks and two more with the San Jose Sharks, where he has long been the club’s general manager. He was a one of the best defensemen of his era and led Chicago blueliners in scoring ten straight seasons. Wilson played 1024 games and finished his career with 827 points.

Holland is best known for his 22 year-run as the general manager of the Detroit Red Wings. The Original Six club won tons of games and claimed three Stanley Cup titles under his watch. Holland is hoping for more of the same in Edmonton.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! Well-deserved!
