Goc Has Three-Assist Performance To Lead Adler Mannheim In Second D.E.L. Game

Marcel Goc’s NHL savvy was on full display in his second D.E.L. game as the Florida Panthers center set up three goals and finished with +1 rating to lead Adler Mannheim to a 4-2 road win over EHC Red Bull Sunday afternoon in Munich. Early in the first period Goc passed to defenseman Dominik Bittner who fired a shot from the blue line which was deflected in for a goal by LW Matthias Plachta. At the 8:40 mark, with Munich’s Toni Ritter in the penalty box, Goc found Michael Glumac open and he beat Jochen Reimer for a power play goal to extend Adler’s lead to 2-0. Markus Kink’s unassisted shorthanded tally thirty one seconds later would put Mannheim up by three and it seemed like the game would be a rout for Adler. A Christian Wichert shorthanded breakaway goal with just over three minutes left in the period finally got Munich on the board and stopped the bleeding. In the second period, Toni Ritter would strike for Munich to make it a one goal game. Three minutes later the Adler power play would produce the clinching goal as Goc set up Frank Mauer with the other assist going to Yannic Seidenberg. Mannheim goaltender Felix Brückmann would shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the 4-2 lead and give the Eagles the victory over winless Munich. Adler Mannheim climbed to second place in the D.E.L. standings with the win.
