Thursday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

While held off the scoresheet – on a night in which he had a lot of company – defenseman Erik Gudbranson was the only Florida Panthers blueliner to finish the evening with a plus-one rating against Carolina. No blocked shots, but he’s recorded hits in 18 straight games (2 on Wednesday) and at least 1 shot on goal in his past three.

Why last night rocked:

Why last night jonesed:

  • BUF over MTL, 3-0: Sabres have picked up points over last six (4-0-2)/

Panthers Playoff Update:

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla, beyond the obvious:

Focusing on clubs within 5 points of Panthers (85P); teams FLA needs to lose in bold

  • WSH (80P) at PHI, 7 p.m.: Flyers have won the past two vs Caps by combined score of 6-1, both in D.C.
  • BOS (87P) at SJ, 10:30: Broons went 0-3 on most recent road trip/

Next up for the Cats:

  • Hosting Edmonton tomorrow evening; the LBC Game Thread discovers its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility at 7.
  • Need Tickets for Panthers/Oilers? Seats starting at $5 via TiqIQ/

Did you know:

  • Florida is 2-2 in games immediately following matches vs Carolina in 2011-12, 2-0 in last two/
