Panthers claim Seth Griffith on waivers

The Florida Panthers have claimed forward Seth Griffith on waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Griffith, a former fifth-round pick (131st overall in 2012) of the Boston Bruins, has played in three games for the Buds this season. The 23-year-old had no points and an even rating in those games.

Toronto claimed the former London Knight from Boston right before the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

During his time in the Bruins organization, Griffin scored 6 goals and 5 assists in 34 games with the big club and 56 goals and 102 assists in 165 games with their AHL affiliate in Providence.

Griffith’s most extensive stint in the NHL came in 2014-15 when he played in 30 games for the Bruins and posted 6 goals and 4 assists.

His best AHL season was in 2015-16 when he scored 24 goals and 53 assists in just 57 games for Providence.

It will be interesting to see where this smallish forward with scoring potential fits in on the Panthers.
