The Florida Panthers (17-10-2) will be looking to halt a two-game skid when they pay a visit to the Edmonton Oilers (13-13-1) tonight at Rogers Place for the penultimate game of a season-long five-game road trip. After starting the trek west by beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 on Sunday, the Panthers have suffered back to back shutouts at the hands of the Seattle Kraken and Vancouver Canucks by the same 4-0 score. The Cats need a win tonight to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season.
The Oilers, who are in the midst of a complete turnaround under new head coach Kris Knoblauch, had its eight-game winning streak snapped in a Steven Stamkos (four goals) powered 7-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. After a bit of slow start, Connor McDavid leads Edmonton with 29 assists and 40 points. Zach Hyman leads the team in goals with 17. The Oilers will be looking to avenge a 5-3 loss to Florida in November and end its six-game homestand on a winning note.
