Panthers fall in overtime to Stars

The Florida Panthers lost for the third straight time in the preseason, this time dropping a 2-1 decision to the Dallas Stars in overtime in a game played at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario.

Official information on this game is scant to say the least, but I did my best to gather what I could from the interweb.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored the Panthers’ only goal of the game in the dying seconds of the first period with the assists going to Jaromir Jagr and Aleksander Barkov.

Jagr and Barkov were making their preseason debuts.

Antoine Roussel scored in the second period to tie the tilt and defenseman Nick Ebert bagged the game-winner on a slap shot from the right circle at the 2:27 mark of the three-on-three overtime session. Remi Elie drew an assist on Ebert’s goal.

The Cats had a 5-on-3 opportunity late in the second period, but failed to capitalize.

Dallas prospect Maxime Lagace went the distance for the Stars in net to get the win while Reto Berra played the entire game for the Cats.

Due to a mix-up, both teams sported white sweaters in the exhibition match.

The two teams will meet again in Dallas on Tuesday night. Let’s get the uniforms right this time.
