Florida Panthers have eight picks in this week’s draft

As I write this we are roughly 34 hours away from the start of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Originally scheduled for June 26–27, 2020 at Montreal’s Bell Centre, the draft will now be held virtually with first round happening on Tuesday night and rounds 2 through 7 taking place on Wednesday.

After acquiring a fourth round pick from the Ottawa Senators for defenseman Josh Brown, the Florida Panthers now have a total of eight picks the draft. Let’s take a look at where Bill Zito & Co. will be selecting.

First Round: Pick 12

Second Round: Pick 43

Third Round: Pick 74, Pick 87 (from Colorado)

Fourth Round: Pick 95 (from Ottawa), Pick 105

Fifth Round: 137 (from Toronto)

Seventh Round: Pick 198

Florida’s own fifth round pick (104 overall) now belongs to the Montreal Canadiens and its original sixth rough pick (167 overall) went to the Colorado Avalanche.

While we are still in the calm before the draft day storm, let’s have an unofficial contest of sorts and pick who you think will be the Panthers choice on Tuesday night. I’ll stick with my SBN Mock Draft selection of Jack Quinn.
