After a little run on signings on Wednesday and Thursday, things have quieted down around the NHL.
The Washington Capitals did take care of the final thing on its offseason checklist, inking gritty forward Tom Wilson to a new five-year deal worth $31 million.

Wilson produced 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points last season. General manager Brian MacLellan called Wilson a unique player for his mix of skill and physicality and said he’s just entering his prime. (Japers’ Rink)
The New York Rangers agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Brady Skjei on a six-year contract worth $31.5 million, avoiding arbitration. Playing all 82 games last season, Sjkei averaged a career-high 21 minutes a game and had four goals and 21 assists. (Blueshirt Banter)

In a bit of Florida Panthers-related news, prospect Max Gildon (University of New Hampshire), who helped the U.S. claim the gold medal at the 2017 IIHFUnder-18 Men’s World Championship in Slovakia, was added to the U.S. roster at the 2018 World Junior Summer Showcase. A participant a year ago at the 2017 WJSS, Gildon will skate on the USA Blue roster, along with fellow Panther Logan Hutsko, place of defenseman K’Andre Miller, who is unable to attend camp due to illness.
The World Junior Summer Showcase takes place in Kamloops, British Columbia from today to August 4, with four countries (Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland) pooling their best U20 players. This is the first step in setting rosters for the 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships in Vancouver and Victoria starting on December 26.
