As National League owners and the player’s union discuss their various issues, future NHL players have already begun their seasons. The vast Canadian Hockey League got underway last weekend, and most European leagues are already into their second or third week. The AHL season has yet to begin, and the official roster is still in the works as players complete for spots and attention from the Panthers‘ front office. Not to be missed, the NCAA’s various programs are set to begin soon as well.
Check out the numbers and my list for the Top 25 Players Under 25 in the organization after the jump…
- San Antonio’s preseason begins on October 5th, on the road against intrastate rival Texas Stars. Besides Matt Fraser (who scored 37 goals in the AHL last season) and Scott Glennie (fifth in Texas scoring), Texas isn’t expected to have any of Dallas’s top prospects on their roster.
- New Saginaw Spirit captain Vincent Trocheck is only 54 points shy of becoming the all-time Spirit scoring leader. /
Remparts forward Logan Shaw had a hat trick in Québec’s 5-0 win over Baie-Comeau on Sunday.
Corban Knight will be suspended from the season opener against Alaska Anchorage.
- Gallacher left Ohio State University during the off-season. It was suspected that he would join the Portland Winterhawks (who his father owns), but will play in the USHL in hopes of rejoining the NCAA (CHL players can not crossover to the NCAA)./
