Saturday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers opened training camp at Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs yesterday.

Today’s schedule sees Group B on the ice from 10:25 – 11:40 A.M. and Group A practicing from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m.

Let’s play catch up on some signings around the NHL, starting with division rival, Boston.

The Bruins signed restricted free agent David Pastrnak to a six-year deal worth $40 million. The 21-year-old Pastrnak exploded for 34 goas and 36 assists last season in the final year of his entry-level contract.

The Minnesota Wild signed restricted free agent forward Marcus Foligno to a four-year deal worth $11.5 million. Minnesota acquired Foligno in an offseason deal with the Buffalo Sabres.

Restricted free agent defenseman Nikita Zadorov signed a two-year contract worth $4.3 million with the Colorado Avalanche. Zadorov registered 10 assists in 56 games with the Avalanche last season.

Those three signings leave Columbus’ Josh Anderson and Detroit’s Andreas Athanasiou as the two remaining RFAs without a new deal.

The Winnipeg Jets signed center Bryan Little to a six-year extension worth $31.746 million. Little produced 21 goals and 47 for Jets 2.0 last year.

Unrestricted free agent goalie Alex D’Orio signed an entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The undrafted 18-year-old posted a 2.40 GAA and .903 save percentage in 28 games with the Saint Johns Sea Dogs of the QMJHL last season.
