Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk was ranked second on NHL Network’s countdown Top 20 Wings Right Now, ranking the best wingers in the National Hockey League, yesterday evening. The 2023 All-Star Game MVP, who ranked 28th on the 2022 edition of Top 50 Players Right Now and also ranked 12th on Top 20 Wings Right Now in 2022, finished one spot ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s two-time Stanley Cup champion Nikita Kucherov and one spot behind 2020 Maurice Richard Trophy winner David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov passed away yesterday after being diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. He was just 21-years-old. Amirov signed an entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs in April 2021 after being selected 15th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Rest in peace.

As expected, Boston Bruins center David Krejci has decided to retire, a move that leaves the defending Presidents’ Trophy winners without their top two centers after the club set NHL records for the most wins and points last season. Krecji appeared in 1,192 regular-season and playoff games for the Bruins from 2007-2023, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2011. He put up a total of 914 points (786 regular season,  128 postseason) in that time.
