Gameday 50: Florida Panthers vs Philadelphia Flyers

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers (31-14-4) return from the All-Star Break looking to add on to a four-game winning streak when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (25-19-6) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena. Florida posted consecutive wins over the Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders before getting nine days off to recharge. The Cats sport the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and leading-scorer Sam Reinhart (62 points) is second in the NHL in goals with 37 and first in power-play goals with 20.

The surprising Flyers remain in a playoff spot despite limping into the break on a season-long five-game losing streak. Philadelphia was riding a five-game heater before the wheels fell off and they dropped games to the Colorado Avalanche, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and mighty Boston Bruins. Goaltender Carter Hart has left the team due to 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault case and former Panther Owen Tippett, who has 18 goals, is expected to return from injured reserve.
