Gameday 7: Florida Panthers vs Seattle Kraken

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers will host the Seattle Kraken this evening at Amerant Bank Arena in the final game of a four-game homestand. Florida is coming off a 3-1 win over the lowly San Jose Sharks that saw backup keeper Anthony Stolarz make 27 saves in his Panthers debut. Sergei Bobrovsky will be back between the pipes tonight, looking to post his first-ever win against the NHL’s 32nd team. Aleksander Barkov, who missed Tuesday’s game with the Sharks, is expected to play. Ditto for defenseman Dmitry Kulikov. Sam Bennett is close, but will not make his first appearance of the season tonight. Rookie Mackie Samoskevich was sent back down to the Charlotte Checkers yesterday and took part in last night’s 5-2 win over Bridgeport.

Seattle will be playing the third of a four-game road trip tonight. They opened the trek east with a 5-4 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday before being nipped 3-2 in overtime by the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. After making the playoffs and winning a round last season, the Kraken are off to disappointing 2-4-2 start. They have been held to two goals or less in six of their eight games.
