Florida Panthers prospect Luke Coughlin scored a goal in the Rimouski Oceanic’s 8-3 preseason win over the Quebec Remparts. Coughlin’s even-strength goal 4;18 into the third period put the Oceanic up by a 6-2 count.
Cats reserve Logan Hutsko played on the second line with Hynek Zohorna and Vikto Lodin in IK Oskarshamn’s 4-2 victory over Södertälje SK in exhibition action from Sweden. He did not figure in the goal-scoring.

There were a pair of new contracts handed out on Tuesday and both were doled out by Atlantic Division teams.
The Tampa Bay Lightning signed forward Brandon Hagel to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension which carries an average annual value of $6.5 million per season. Hagel is entering the final season of a four-year deal he signed with the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2021. The 24-year-old had a career year in 2022-23 as he scored 30 goals and added 34 assists to finish fourth on the Bolts in scoring.

The Detroit Red Wings signed forward Joe Veleno to a one-year deal worth $825K. The 23-year-old appeared in 81 games last season and produced nine goals and 20 points.

Norway picked up its first victory of the tournament by doubling up winless Slovakia, 4-2. Andrea Dalen set up three goals and was named Best Player for the Nords. Mathea Fischer (GWG), Josefine Biseth Engmann, Thea Jorgensen and Emile Kruse were the goal-scorers. Tatiana Korenkova and Simone Bednarik lit the lamp for Slovakia.

The Netherlands collected their second win with a 2-1 victory over Austria. Blake van Nes notched the game-winning goal on a power play with 4:37 remaining in regulation. Eline Gabriele stopped 26 shots and Savine Wielenga finished with a goal and an assist to take Best Player honors for the Dutch team. Charlotte Wittich scored the only goal for the Austrians, who dropped to 2-1.
