Friday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The Florida Panthers get Black Friday off as they prepare to resume their five-game homestand by welcoming the Pittsburgh Penguins to town tomorrow night. The Panthers were beaten 5-2 by the New York Rangers on Thanksgiving Eve, so they will be looking to get well by posting a second-straight win this season over Sid The Kid and the rest of the Pens.

Florida is currently 11 points behind current Eastern Conference wildcard holders, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens, making these next three home games very important if the Cats ever plan on climbing into the thick of the playoff chase.

While the Panthers are idle, today is very busy day around the NHL with 12 games on the slate, starting with this morning’s tilt between the Winnipeg Jets and Philadelphia Flyers. In action involving other teams in the Atlantic Division, the Tampa Bay Lightning will be hosting the Penguins this afternoon, the Detroit Red Wings will welcome the New York Islanders to the Motor City, and the Buffalo Sabres are in Toronto to face the Leafs.

It’s a Caterwaul, so feel free to chime with anything hockey in the comment section. The floor is yours.
