Friday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The 2021 World Junior Championship gets started today in Edmonton with this afternoon’s game between Switzerland and Slovakia. The Florida Panthers have five prospects taking part in this year’s tournament with three seeing action in tonight’s games.

2020 first-rounder Anton Lundell (12th overall) is expected to center Finland’s first line with Roni Hirvonen and Kasper Simontaival on his wings, and 2020 fifth-rounder Kasper Puutio (153rd overall) is expected to be on the second defense pairing with Mikko Kokkonen when Finland takes on Germany at 6 p.m. in play from Group A.

2019 first-rounder (13th overall) Spencer Knight will get the start in net in the marquee match-up between the United States and Russia at 9:30 p.m. in the only game involving teams from Group B.

All games from this year’s WJC will be broadcast by NHL Network.

Tomorrow will see 2020 seventh-rounder (212th overall) Devon Levi get the start in goal for Canada when they take on the Germans at 6 p.m. and 2020 second-rounder (43rd overall) Emil Heineman and Sweden will open the tourney against the Czech Republic in the first game at 2 p.m.. The Americans will go back to back with match against Austria at 9:30. It will interesting to see if Knight will get a second straight start.
