LBC’s 2020 NHL All-Star Skills Event Thread

The 2020 NHL All-Star Game weekend in St. Louis kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. with the NHL All-Star Skills Event, which includes the Elite Women’s 3-on-3 game.

NBCSN will have the television coverage for those of us in the United States.

Jonathan Huberdeau, who is tied for sixth in the league in scoring with 65 points, is the lone Florida Panthers representative and making his first All-Star Game appearance.

Tonight, Huberdeau will take part in the Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting contest along with Jaccob Slavin, Tyler Bertuzzi, Leon Draisaitl, Nico Hischier, Tomas Hertl, Alex Pietrangelo and Mark Scheifele.

The other events taking place will be the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater, Bud Light NHL Save Streak, Elite Women’s 3-on-3 presented by adidas, Enterprise NHL Hardest Shot and Gatorade NHL Shooting Stars.

Shooting Stars is a new event in which players will be positioned on an elevated platform behind the goal, approximately 30 feet above the ice surface, where they will shoot pucks at a variety of targets located on the ice, with each target possessing different point values. One at a time, each player will attempt seven shots and earn points for each target hit.

After taking part in demonstrations the last two years, twenty of the best women players in the world get their own event. A 3-on-3 game that will go by IIHF women’s rules and feature two 10-minute periods with running time. Penalties will result in penalty shots for the fouled team.
