Sunday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Florida Panthers prospects Carter Berger and Logan Hutsko went head to head again and this time Berger and Connecticut got the best of Boston College by a 3-1 count. The Huskies won for the first time this season while handing the Eagles its first defeat.

Berger, a sophomore defenseman, finished the game with one shot on goal and a +1 rating.

Hutsko had a team-high four shots on goal, two tripping penalties, lost a faceoff and finished the tilt with an even rating.

Freshman defenseman Mike Benning registered one shot on goal, blocked a shot and posted an even rating in Denver’s 4-1 loss to Minnesota-Duluth.

In the ECHL, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits were beaten 4-3 on the road by the Jacksonville Ice Men, Ben Finkelstein drew an assist on Joey Haddad’s second period goal an had one shot on net. Karch Bachman and Matt Wedman didn’t figure in the scoring and both failed to get a shot on goal. Wedmen finished with a +1 rating while Bachman finished with an even rating. Ryan Bednard served as the backup to Jacob Ingham.

In the KHL, Panthers reserve Maxim Mamin set a new career-high in goals with his 13th of the season in CSKA Moscow’s 3-2 win over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Mamin notched a power-play goal 5:03 into the second period to put CSKA up 2-1. The 25-year-old finished the game with two shots on goal and a -1 rating in 18:03 TOI.
