Monday Offseason Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

Florida Panthers prospect Rodrigo Abols scored a goal and added an assist in Orebro HK’s 5-2 win over Farjestad BK in Sunday action from the Swedish Hockey League. Abols picked up his sixth of the season with  an unassisted goal with 4:34 left in the second period to put Orebro up 4-1. He set up Linus Oberg’s second goal of the game in the third period. The 24-year-old Latvian finished the game with one shot on goal and a +2 rating in 13:29 of ice time. Abols had two assists in a 4-2 win over HV71 on Saturday. He has produced 13 points in 17 games for Orebro this season.

In the KHL, Emil Djuse collected a pair of assists in Spartak Moscow’s 4-3 road win over HC Sochi. Djuse finished the game with one hit, one blocked shot and +1 rating in 18:38 TOI. He drew helpers on Spartak’s first two goals as they built a three-goal lead in the opening frame. Djuse is up to 18 points (3G/15A) in 25 games for Spartak, tops among the club’s defenseman.

Vladislav Kolyachonok logged 17:02 of ice time, took an interference minor and finished with an even rating in Dinamo Minsk’s 3-2 shootout win over Kunlun Red Star. The 19-year-old defenseman has now appeared in 34 games for Dinamo and put up a goal and four points.

Alec Rauhauser and DVTK Polar Bears fell by a 4-3 count to last place MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš. The Polar Bears led 3-0 on home ice before giving up four straight goals. Rauhauser didn’t figure in the scoring. The Bowling Green product has seven points (3G/4A) in 13 Tipos Extraliga games.

Ty Smilanic, Florida’s third round choice in 2020 and the Quinnipiac Bobcats will finally open the season tonight against the 1-1 Sacred Heart Pioneers.
