Thursday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The National Hockey League announced that the Florida Panthers road games against the Carolina Hurricanes scheduled for Thursday, January 21 and Saturday, January 23 have been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak among the Canes.

Carolina’s Warren Foegele, Jordan Martinook, Jaccob Slavin and Teuvo Teravainen joined Jordan Staal on the NHL’s COVID protocol related absence list after the team’s game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday was called off.

This means more modifications are coming to the Cats’ schedule and that the team will not play again until Tuesday’s roadie against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Panthers have only managed to play twice this season and have had four games postponed.

In roster news, goaltender Samuel Montembeault was sent to the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch while defenseman Riley Stillman was moved down to the Taxi Squad. These moves open a spot on the main roster which most likely will be filled by defenseman Markus Nutivaara.
