Golden Knights rally to even series with Les Habitants
After a gut-wrenching loss on Friday, the Vegas Golden Knights elected to go with Robin Lehner in net, and he made 27 saves to backstop his heavily-favored club to a 2-1 overtime win over the scrappy Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.
Nicolas Roy calmly chucked his own rebound puck over a fallen Carey Price 1:18 into the extra session after Max Pacioretty skated out from behind the net and took a hard shot from a sharp angle.
Brayden McNabb tied the game with 9:23 remaining in regulation when he took a pass from William Karlsson and fired the puck off Price’s midsection and in. McNabb is seventh Vegas defensemen to score in the postseason.
Paul Byron scored on a breakaway in the second period, and Price stopped 19 shots for Montreal, which had won two straight games and eight of nine.
