Florida Panthers Thursday Caterwaul

Florida Panthers reserve Yegor Korshkov set up a pair of third period goals in Amur Khabarovsk’s 5-3 loss to Spartak Moscow in Wednesday action for the KHL. Korshkov finished the game with four shots, three hits and a blocked shot in 19:44 of ice time.

2023 seventh-round pick Stepan Zvyagin did not play in Dinamo Minsk’s 4-3 loss to Kunlun Red Star.

The Ottawa Senators signed defenseman Jake Sanderson to an eight-year, $64.4 million contract extension. Sanderson, 21, produced four goals and 28 assists in 77 games as a rookie with Ottawa last season to rank second in scoring among the club’s blueliners. He will play the upcoming season under the final year of his entry-level deal.

Restricted free agent Morgan Frost signed a two-year contract worth $4.2 million with the Philadelphia Flyers. Frost totaled 19 goals, 27 assists, and 46 points in 81 games (all career-highs) with the Flyers last season.

The Boston Bruins have signed veteran forward Danton Heinen to a professional tryout contract. Heinen had 22 points (8G/14A) in 65 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2022-23, but he was not re-signed.

Defenseman Michael Del Zotto retired on Wednesday after 13 seasons in the NHL. He finishes with 262 points (63G/199A) and 284 penalty minutes in 736 games. Del Zotto spent just over five months with the Panthers organization last season, playing 25 games for the Charlotte Checkers, before he was traded to Detroit in exchange for Givani Smith on December 19.

The Minnesota franchise announced the signings of free agent forwards Kelly Pannek and Kendall Coyne Schofield, and defenseman Lee Stecklein to three-year contracts on Wednesday.

This morning, the Boston franchise announced the signings of forward Hilary Knight, defenseman Megan Keller and goaltender Aerin Frankel. All three players inked three-year deals.

The New York area franchise still has one slot to fill before the first free agent window closes prior to the PWHL draft.
