Thursday Caterwaul: Florida Panthers Open Forum

The July 4th holiday produced a rather quiet day around the NHL. There were a few signings, further depleting the pool of available free agents.  The Florida Panthers didn’t make any further moves , and only have qualified RFAs Alex Petrovic and MacKenzie Weegar left to sign.

  • The Erik Karlsson sweepstakes are heating up with Vegas and Dallas seemingly the frontrunners. TSN has the latest on the Ottawa defenseman. (TSN)
  • Former Buffalo goaltender Robin Lehner signed a one-year, “show me” type deal with the reeling New York Islanders. (Lighthouse Hockey)
  • The Arizona Coyotes re-signed center Brad Richardson to a two-year deal and defenseman Dakota Mermis also stayed in the fold, inking a one-year, two-way contract. (AZ Central).
  • The John Tavares signing and moves out west have altered the league’s balance of power according to Stephen Whyno. (CBC)
